Un estratto delle poesie di Francesco Thomas Fazio, da Il bambino risorto e Poetry International Review
FUGGILOZIO DEI PAPAVERI
Si è desta
nefraria
la muffida mente rettiliana.
Rombi sinistri
squarciano
Il silenzio della notte
alzandosi in volo
oltreconfine.
Nel loro grembo di latta
portano carico pernicioso
di morte e miseria.
Acre è l’odore
di sospetto ed indifferenza
di quel gorgo senza fine
che famelico ingurgita
nobile essenza.
Lunghe file
di vuote bare
attendono
sulle gerbide basole della vita.
Si baratta
il dono della vita
per il prezzo della morte
intenti ad arroncigliare
quei trenta vill denari.
Non più
una guerra ad oltranza
tra confini o nazioni
m a una lotta
tra paura e paura a d’amare.
Si precipita vorticosi
per guadare intanfiti
nell’umano guano
mentre la combriccola
dei potenti papaveri
si abbaruffano
a giocare a carte
con in palio
i nostri destini.
E l’indicibile sofferenza
ci unirà
In un ultimo abbraccio.
THE AMUSEMENT OF THE POPPIES
The moulded reptilian mind
has roused
nefarious.
Ominous roars
slash
the stillness of the night
departing
beyond the borders.
In their tin womb
they bear their noxious load
of death and misery.
Acrid is the smell
of suspicion and indifference
of that never-ending maelstrom
that ravenously ingurgitates
noble essence.
Lengthy rows
of empty coffins
wait on
the barren flagstones of life.
The gift of life
i s bartered
for the price of death
focused on grasping
those vile thirty pieces of silver.
No longer
an all-out war
between borders or nations
but a struggle
between fear and fear t o love.
Spiralling down
We scramble
to fetidly wade
in the human guano
while the clique
of the dominant poppies
scuffle
to play cards
with our destiny
at stake.
And the indescribable sufferance
shall unite u s
in a last embrace.
PANE DURO E COLTELLO CHE NON TAGLIA
Riuscirai
Tu – donna daddolosa
a non snudare
lo scannabecco?
del vaniloquio impulsore
e camminare
sulle basole dell’incertezza
e far divenire
la tua innata insicurezza
assoluta priorità?
Riuscirai
Tu – donna raviressa?
ad infrangere
Quel bieco egoismo
sussulto di sopravvivenza
che ti fa scegliere
Il Principe Azzurro o
quello squallido bipide
bancomat di turno?
Riuscirai
Tu – donna garrula
a scaparbire il tuo uomo
e trovare il coraggio
di donare amore
piuttosto che ricevere?
E Tu
uomo spocchioso
riuscirai
a fiaccare
quel Macho prepotente
ed imbrigliare
quegli indomabili impulsi chimici
per conquistare
Il suo cuore farfalla
piuttosto che il suo letto cigolante?
Riuscirai
Tu – uomo brancichino
a scrostarti di dosso
la rozza buccia
di quell’essere primitivo
ed elevarti
da ruminante a d essere senziente
per baciare la fragile anima della donna
in un tortile abbraccio alchemico
che rispecchia
nel firmamento stellato
l’elica del nostro DNA?
STALE BREAD AND DULL KNIFE
Can
You – coaxing woman
refrain from unsheathing
the boning knife
of the nagging drivel
and walk along
the flagstones of uncertainty
turning
your inborn insecurity
into an absolute priority?
Can
You – bewitching woman
shatter
that surly egotism
jolt of survivorship
that makes you choose
Prince Charming or
that sleazy two-legged ATM
of the day?
Can
You – garrulous woman
render
your man amenable
and find the courage
to offer love
rather than to bask in its rays?
And You
smug-of-a man
can you enfeeble
that overbearing Macho
and bridle
those indomitable chemical urges
to conquer
her butterfly heart
rather than
her squeaky bed?
Can
You – groping man
peel off
the coarse exterior
of that primitive being
and elevate yourself
from ruminant to sentient being
and kiss the woman’s feathery soul
in a spitalling alchemic embrace
that reflects
in the starry sky
the helix of our DNA?

Alalà
Distratti
dall’accecante superfluo
non ci accorgiamo
che la silente battaglia continua
i n regni a noi ignoti
tra carbonio e silicio.
Il braccio di ferro
in perpetuo dualismo
vede contrapposti
gli assuntori d i ossigeno
ed i consumatori di idrogeno.
L’equazione della vita
non è che una scelta
fra il bianco o il nero cavaliere
nentre Aldebaran e la Rubescente Stell
anno già sceso la visiera
E tu chi hai scelto?
Il cosmo non conosce il grigio
e rifiuta svilenti compromessi.
Alala
Led astray
by the blinding excess
we don’t realize
that the silent battle is ongoing
in realms unknown to us
between carbon and silicon.
The arm-wrestling
in perpetual dualism
sees as their antagonists
the oxygen consumptores
and the hydrogen consumers.
The equation of life
is none other than a choice
between the black knight and the white
whilst Aldebaran and the Rubiginous Star
have already lowered their visor.
So whom have you chosen?
The cosmos does not acknowledge gray
and declines indecent compromises.
Solo allora…
Solo quando
avrai ammutolito
il brontolio del tuo Ego,
Solo quando
i tuoi atomi frizzeranno
dalla gioia incontenibile,
Solo quando
le tue balbuzienti corde vocali
cercheranno di dire il non detto,
Solo quando
i varchi armati delle cellule
abbasseranno i loro ponti levatoi,
Solo quando
la tua anima canterà
la stessa melodia
e i tuoi atomi balleranno
lo stesso giro rovescio,
Solo quando
T’altro diventerà una priorità
sui tuoi bisogni primari,
Solo quando
perderai il sentiero…
potrai dire
di aver amato.
Only Then…
Only when
you muffle
the grumbling of your Ego,
Only when
your atoms fizz
from irrepressible joy,
Only when
your stuttering vocal cords
try to utter the unsaid,
Only when
the armed openings of your cells
lower their drawbridges,
Only when
your soul sings
the same melody
and your atoms dance
the same reverse turn,
Only when
the other becomes a priority
of your primary needs,
Only when
you lose sight of the path…
you can say
you have truly love.
